RG Custom Basses are designed by Rich Guerrero originally from Northern CA, and now resides in Nashville,TN. As a bass player, Rich was unhappy with most basses that he played, liking certain aspects of reputable companies but just not happy with the whole package.

His first design was that of a slimmer and flatter neck than any of the basses he owned, leading to the 0001B bass. This bass was the first bass that “fit” Rich’s small stubby hands. Later, after a work accident left Rich with very limited range of motion and strength in his left wrist, he realized the size and shape of standard bass necks resulted in a lot of pain and discomfort. That led Rich to take his neck profile a step further. Instead of a typical round neck of most basses, Rich went with an “asymmetrical design” that fits the hand naturally up and down the neck without any awkward bending or contortions of the wrist. The end result was a very playable and “fast” neck on the RG Custom Bass product line.

With the pin-striping style and sustain of a neck-through design, an asymmetrical neck, excellent electronics, and the sheer beauty of the exotic woods; RG Custom Basses are some of the most comfortable, warm sounding, and fun playing basses on the market today.

SO play one and see what you think. After all they are designed on the premise of one of Rich’s favorite quotes, “All I want is the best of everything.”

RG Custom Basses, what are you waiting for?

Building is not a destination, it is a journey and for RG Custom Basses it began with LOGOS,  a logical approach to bass, using logic and reason in the thought process and design, it need to make sense, almost a mathimatical approach to building; a standard body style, not to far out of the box, tried and true, an if it ain't broke don't fix it mind set. Using the best wood nature could offer, with the newest technology that we could find.

But as that journey continued growth, knowledge wisdom also matured and some where in there a new passion began to give birth, leading to a risk in PATHOS.

PATHOS developed in suffering and experience,  by taking LOGOS and adding passion and risk, the desire for something different and to build with emotion, literally letting the wood speak to the builder, led to a unique design with each bass in the series having edgey and risky elements, from unique fingerboards, to knotted and cracked woods, what once in LOGOS would have been seen as inperfections now were seen as beautiful character, and a tribute to the uniqueness of each individual instrument.

Now be prepared for ETHOS...

ETHOS refers to the trustworthiness or credibility. ETHOS is often conveyed through tone and style.  It can also be affected by reputation as it exists independently from expertise. The impact of ETHOS can only be seen or heard from integrity, which starts on the inside but is reflected in what is seen and heard to all those who experience it!

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business and growing strong since 2001.

How do i contact you?

Email is best, see the contact us page. We are also avalible via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

Can you build me a custom bass and how much will it cost?

Of Course! We are happy to build you the bass of your dreams! RG Custom basses believes in bass players and knows we are all very different. We try to keep the cost in down so all players at all levels can enjoy a custom bass. Custom projects can vary in cost simply because of the variety of woods and parts that are available, and they all have different costs but a starting point would be $2,200.00USD.

Lead time for a fully customed bass is 3-6 months.

Can I come play a bass?

Sure! If you are in the Nashville area, we are available by appointment only and can schedule a time for you to come play a bass.

Can i just show up at the showroom?

Unfortunatly, no we are by appontment only.

Do you ship outside the USA?

Rarely. Due to customs regulations, potential for damage, the inability to warranty a bass shipped outside of the USA, and scammers we are hesitant, and will evaluate on a case by case basis. All custom fees will be calculated and paid by the buyer.

Why are custom basses more expensive than manufactured basses?

When you walk into a music store and see a nice bass guitar, more than likely there is someone else looking at that same bass in that store or somewhere else around the world. When you order from us, not only do you get a handcrafted bass, but the parts you pick and the labor that we do is for a name and not a dollar sign. We want to create something that speaks for you.

No one will have the same bass you create. That is the beauty of having a fully customized bass from us.

Does RG Custom Basses offer endorsement deals?

YES! We do. Please contact us for further details.
